Weather: snowstorm

We wake up to zero visibility. That’s not good and it means that no Otter ski planes will be able to land today. We hope for a clearing it in the afternoon, but it won’t come today. We want out now that we are at base camp.

Easy day in the tent apart from one little walk outside to breath fresh air and visit the ‘cache cemetery’. Tens of poles with stickers showing the name of each expedition leader and the tentative date of return. The emergency rations are buried deep below the snow in case the team gets stuck at base camp due to weather – this is what is happening to us now.

In the afternoon, not much happens except for a visit from Patch, we have some good laughs.

We enjoy lots of jokes, naps, food and a movie at night on my iPhone that we have secured to the ceiling of the tent for an 8pm movie session.

For the duration of the movie, we almost forget that we are in a tent at snowy base camp in Denali, amazing.
