May 18 / Weather: storm on mountain top / Altitude: 4300m / Temperature: -15

We are stuck in the tent at camp 3 to wait for better weather. We are getting bored and trying to keep busy by reading our kindles, chatting and listening to music and spending a lot of time in the kitchen tent playing hand games, telling jokes and re-evaluating the weather.

We have a late breakfast of pancakes at around 11am this morning in the kitchen tent.

Seems we have a shot at leaving for high camp tomorrow morning so we need to start planning what to take on the mountain. The bare minimum for sure. Carrying too much is now out of the question  at this altitude and weather conditions.

The ideal scenario goes like this:
Tomorrow, 19 May: camp 3 to high camp
20: rest day
21: summit attempt and return to 17 camp
22: walk down to 14 camp rest and keep walking all the way to base camp ‘the death march’ walking all day and night picking up cached gear on the way down
23: morning Glacier pick up flight back to Talkeetna
24: Talkeetna
25: Anchorage
26: Alaska – LA – HK
