After 2 days of intense packing the day has come to say goodbye to loved ones and get on the plane for the long journey to Anchorage, Alaska. The result: 2 x 100-liter expedition duffle bags packed with technical mountain gear & all the necessary clothing.

I spent most of today with Sarah and Oscar which was wonderful. I enter Oscar’s bedroom to give him one last kiss. Sarah sends me to the airport.

As I get to the airport I hear that Xavier’s Delta airline flight did not wait for him as his incoming plane had a slight delay and after an hour of negotiations he managed to find an alternative to be make it to Anchorage by tomorrow. Tough way to start his long trip.
