Well before the start of the pandemic, we discussed a ‘bachelor weekend’ climbing in Switzerland, France or Italy. Then plans were adjusted, some of us pulled out: Lars is stuck in Hong Kong, Thierry couldn’t make it so It’s only Xavier and I. The end goal is Gran Paradiso, a 4000m mountain that I climbed with Lars & Xavier as a Mont-Blanc prep in 2014.

 

Xavier was tasked with organising the entire weekend. He did a great job. I jumped on a plane from Nantes this morning, met Xavier in Geneva and we drove to near Aosta to a small village called St-Pierre, a hotel named Lo Fleye with a superbe view on the valley d’Aosta.
