Gran Paradiso climb, day 2: the North side of the mountain

Wake up in our beautiful hotel Lo Fleye in St-Pierre, near Aoste. Breakfast of desserts, cakes and bread and amazing cappuccinos.

We have decided to go trekking and hopefully find some snow around 3000m altitude to rope in, put on crampons and practice our skills before the main climb. We head up the mountain to the Chabot Refuge, the north side of Gran Paradiso mountain, at 2700m.

We find the snow, rope up, gear up and practice our skills. We decide of 4pm (with a 5pm) max turn around time so we have time to go all the way down to the parking. We wrap up our training at 5 and head down. Dinner at Rugantino Pizzeria in St Pierre, decent and off to bed.
